Glacier: Kenai Fjords N. P.
Early August and a great day to cruise Kenai Fjords National Park, and all of its wonders. There are plenty of viewing opportunities out of Seward, Alaska
Glacial Sculpture
Glaciers are an extreme surface to traverse. This small portion of Mendenhall Glacier attempts to portray a few crevices, spires can measure well over a hundred feet.
Mead Glacier
On the way to work one day... very nice weather provided some special viewing in the four person plane. One can feel pretty insignificant in this environment. Mead Glacier is just north of Skagway, Alaska.
Gravity Wins !!!
Calving in Kenai Fjords National Park, Seward, Alaska. We were "parked" a half mile from the glacier front taking in the sights for about forty-five minutes. Just as we were moving on this calving took place. Timing...
Glacial Highway
Barnard Glacier is comprised of several glaciers converging into this "glacial highway," near McCarthy, Alaska. Each "white center and two brown strips" indicate a separate glacier, originating from canyons in the back country. They join to appear as a glacial highway. Air access only.
Glacial Meeting
Glaciers are a formidable force, carving the landscape, creating lakes and interesting formations. Travel across a glacier is at best extremely difficult and dangerous.
